QUEST?IONS I & QUEST?IONS II
Assemblies for Elementary, Middle, and High School

QUEST?IONS I and QUEST?IONS II are both 45 minute one act plays geared to appeal to students from grades 4-12. Both programs deal with a specific set of issues, and each takes a slightly different approach.

The presenter, Laura Clark Hansen, has been working in the field of motivational entertainment for the past 15 years. A professional actress, writer, and teacher, she holds a BA in Acting from the University of Wisconsin and a Masters Degree in Human Development from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. For more information on Laura you can access her CV through the link on the sidebar menu.

QUEST?IONS I

QUEST?IONS I is developmentally geared to encourage younger students in grades 4-6 as they begin to think about who they are, how they feel, and what impact their actions have on them and the world around them. The assertion is that; What you think...Affects how you feel... and... It impacts what you do.

Body Image: A life sized Barbie-type doll opens the show with a hip hop song about the pitfalls of perfection.
Bullying and Violence: This sketch explores non-violent ways of handling anger.
Substance Abuse: A scene where the characters "get wasted" using canned corn.
Depression/Divorce: A fractured fairy tale vignette featuring life-sized puppets, explores some coping skills designed to help youngsters deal with body image issues, depression and the affects of divorce.

QUEST?IONS II

QUEST?IONS II approaches adolescent issues from a critical thinking perspective. The lyrics from the opening song articulate it best; "Image isn't everything, what's pro might be a con, Cut through all the hype, and see what's really going on."

Smoking:   A seedy skeleton sings a "hip hop" song "hawking the benefits" of smoking.
Peer Cruelty Bullying & Stereotypes:   "Image isn't everything" is illustrated in this scene where people are not always what they seem.
Substance Abuse: Look out!  Sauerkraut is the drug of choice. This scene explores myths created by advertising and the drug culture as the characters "get pickled" on canned sauerkraut!

HIGH SCHOOL ASSEMBLY
“PUTTING THE PIECES TOGETHER”

Image - surface appearances and sound bites have become substitutes for reality. School populations reflect this divisive truth in a world based on external appearances. This high energy motivational presentation looks at how image factors into our day to day lives as we put together the pieces of who we are.

Laura Clark Hansen tells the poignant and often hilarious story of her twin brothers Mike and Joe who made different choices in life - driving home the point that “you become the sum total of each choice you make and every action you take”.
